Selling Tips
Before you put your property on the open market it is
a good idea to walk round your home and look at it as if you were showing
it to viewers who will generally spend only 10 – 20 minutes looking
round. You only get one chance to make a first impression. It is extremely
hard to be objective about your own property but here are some guidelines
to help you.
- Décor – Could any rooms benefit from a fresh coat of
paint or some wallpaper? Are there any corners of wallpaper that need
stuck
down? Does the tiling in the bathroom or en-suite need regrouting?
- Carpets – Do your carpets or flooring need cleaned or replaced?
Are there any pet smells?
- DIY – Finish off all those small jobs you’ve
been meaning to do. Are those pictures straight? Make sure all lights
have
lightbulbs.
- Clutter – Don’t have coats and shoes cluttering up hallways
as you invite viewers into your home. Clear worksurfaces in the kitchen
of everything but the kettle and toaster.
- Gardens – Viewers will start judging your property the minute
they open your front gate, so make sure you spend an afternoon cutting
the lawn and weeding those flowerbeds.
These are just a few tips on presenting your property but everybody’s
home is different so that’s why we offer a ‘house doctor’ service
for each client.
